Air Liquide masters the hydrogen chain from one end to the other, from research to production and use.
In the Group’s laboratories, nearly a hundred people take part in research and development programs on the production, distibution and applications of hydrogen.
Through its engineering activities, the Group develops and builds hydrogen production units. This activity was clearly strengthened by the integration of LURGI in 2007. Cryospace, a subsidiary of Air Liquide working with Astrium under a GIE (Groupement d'Intérêts Economiques) builds liquid hydrogen and oxygen tanks for the Ariane Vspace program.
Over 200 Air Liquide units worldwide (including 38 large-capacity units) produce hydrogen in gaseous form. This hydrogen is distributed to customers in small cylinders (gaseous form) or in bulk trucks (liquid -253°C or gaseous forms).
Air Liquide operates 1800 km of pipelines to transport hydrogen directly to its largest customers’ industrial sites.
