A fuel cell to light a ski resort

03/03/2009
A fuel cell that AXANE developed was tested on February 19, 2009 at the Autrans (Alps, France) resort to light a cross-country ski trail.

The fuel cell made it possible to supply electricity without any emissions polluting this totally isolated site.

Air Liquide’s subsidiary, AXANE, in partnership with EDF, helped light up a loop of a cross-country ski trail by installing nonpolluting technologies that fit perfectly into the environment. AXANE made available a 2.5 kW fuel cell.

The use of a fuel cell supplied with hydrogen is a clean alternative for producing electricity on isolated sites of the network. This technology has already been used to supply mobile telephone relay stations.
