Air Liquide, technology partner of the University of Glamorgan

Air Liquide is providing and installing the hydrogen production, compression and storage equipment as well as two refueling stations for hydrogen and natural gas at the Center located at the Baglan Park site in South Wales.

Hydrogen is produced on site at the center by an electrolyser installed by Air Liquide. This electrolyser uses electricity from renewable sources, with no greenhouse gases released to the atmosphere. When no electricity is produced by the renewable intermittent sources, the stored hydrogen is used in a fuel cell producing electricity to supply the Center.

This hydrogen is also used to refuel the vehicles tested at the Center. Thanks to Air Liquide technologies, the refueling station will provide hydrogen at 350 bar rapidly and safely. The second station is used to refuel vehicles with natural gas, and also to test a range of alternative fuels mixture of hydrogen and natural gas.

For Air Liquide, this technology partnership presents a new opportunity to demonstrate its total mastering of the hydrogen chain by participating in the development of hydrogen energy and new fuels.
